LEONIDS EGONS JUREVICS It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leonids Jurevics on Monday, June 24, 2002 at the age of 78 years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 51 years, Ritma; his sisters-in-law, Dzidra, Edite, Aina and their families; his brother-in-law Olgerts and his family; his relatives in Latvia, Anita, Dagmara, Zigrida, Biruta, Izolde, Viesturs, Uldis, Inese and their families; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and his many friends. Leo was born in Riga, Latvia on April 9, 1924. He was predeceased by his father Bruno and his mother Elza. Leo came to Canada in 1950 where he was trained in electronics at the Manitoba Technical Institute. Leo served as President of the Church Council of the Holy Cross Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winnipeg for 25 years. He was also very active in the Latvian Society for many years. Thanks to Rev. Egil Grislis for his kind support, the dedicated homecare support workers and the staff at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St., at 11:00 a.m. Friends may view prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church or to a charity of choice.
